Managing Director of the Hartmetall-Werkzeugfabrik Paul Horn GmbH in Tübingen and long-time chairman of VDMA Precision Tools Association died on February 05, 2023 at the age of 66.
Lothar Horn was born in 1956 and, after studying business administration and gaining initial professional experience in the IT industry and management consultancies, he joined his parents' precision tool company in 1991, which had been founded in 1969 in Waiblingen by his father Paul Horn. From 1995, Lothar Horn steered the fortunes of the grooving specialist as Managing Director and developed the company into the internationally successful Horn Group with a broad product range and production sites in England, Italy, the Czech Republic and the USA.
From 2009 to 2019, Lothar Horn was elected Chairman of the VDMA Precision Tools Association and engaged himself for the benefit of the industry. He has driven ECTA's European network, has always been supportive and has used his international connections for the good of the industry. In 2021, he received the Tool and Die Making Medal of Honor for outstanding merits for the branch - both as a promoter of tool making in his function as Chairman of the VDMA Precision Tools Association and as a role model for value-oriented, committed entrepreneurship. With Lothar Horn, the machinery and equipment manufacturing industry has lost a charismatic personality, a visionary and promoter of the industry.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and colleagues.
In deep sorrow.
